Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the N25 Waterford to Cork, yesterday (Monday).

The collision involved two cars and occurred at approximately 6:15pm near Two Mile Inn between Midleton and Castlemartyr.

A woman, aged in her 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man, aged in his 60s, was taken to Cork University Hospital to be treated for injuries.

The woman and man were travelling in the same vehicle.

No other injuries have been reported.

The N25 is currently closed in the area with local diversions in place.

Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly.

An examination of the scene will be conducted by Forensic Collision Investigators.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.

Anyone travelling in the area between 6:00pm and 6:30pm, and who may have camera footage, is asked to make it available.
