A young woman has died following a tragic accident at a camogie match in County Galway.
It is understood the woman in her 20s was struck by a sliotar during the course of the game that took place on Easter Monday.
Gardai and emergency services were called to the incident yesterday and the woman was taken to University Hospital Galway.
She died this morning (Tuesday) in hospital as a result of her injuries.
The woman was a member of Athenry Camogie Club, and a member of the Galway Camogie Board told RTE counselling was being provided for players at the club.
