An online booking system for Tramore's Beach Wheelchair is now up and running.
Waterford Sports Partnership says the system will make it easier and more accessible for people with mobility issues to book in advance.
The beach wheelchair is free to use and is available seven days a week. Sports Inclusion Disability Officer with WSP, Pauline Casey, told WLR News how the system works.
"The system is now available on our website's home page where it will guide you to the booking site.
"It will bring you to a calendar, you select your day and it gives you an option to put in your time. The chair is available from 10:00 A: M - 5:00 P: M, and we are allowing one user per day which gives the person time to use the service.
"It's going really well, but we wouldn't be able to do it without the support of Molly's Cafe, T-Bay Surf Club, and Water Safety Ireland which are supporting this voluntary service.
"We would love to see them extended to other beaches across the county, but there are a lot of criteria involved with putting a beach wheelchair on a certain beach which we are working on at the minute.
"We are involved with IWA sport and the Irish Disability Federation. We are investigating if there is a possibility of putting additional chairs on beaches across the county."
