Work is to start in the coming weeks on the extension of the Waterford Greenway into Wexford.
The South East Greenway will run from New Ross to Ferrybank, going through south Kilkenny.
The 24 kilometre route is a joint initiative of the local authorities in Waterford, Wexford and Kilkenny.
Wexford County Council says vegetation clearance and site investigation works will start this month.
That will be followed by a tender process and construction is expected to begin next summer.
