A man has been killed in North Wexford in a workplace accident during Storm Eunice.
Wexford County Council has confirmed that one of its employees, a man in his 60s, was fatally injured earlier today, while tending to a fallen tree in the Ballythomas area.
Gardai and emergency services tended to the incident this morning.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been brought to University Hospital Waterford.
The employee’s family, An Garda Síochána and the Health and Safety Authority have been informed.
In a statement, Wexford County Council said "our thoughts and prayers are with the employee’s family, work colleagues and friends at this very difficult time."
