Plans are in place for the potential development of a 24-turbine wind farm in County Waterford.
A pre-application consultation has been lodged with An Coimisiún Pleanála by Slievegrine Limited for a 24-turbine wind farm in the townlands of Ballyguiry, Carronadavderg, Carronahyla, Carronbeg and others.
These areas are located on the outskirts of Clashmore and Ardmore in the Drum Hills area.

A decision is due on or before November 12th in relation to the consultation.
It is up to An Coimisiún Pleanála to determine whether or not the decision in relation to the application lies with them or with Waterford City & County Council. As the proposal is likely to have a generating capacity of greater than 50 Mega Watts (MW), it is necessary to query whether the development constitutes Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID).
The proposal will consist of three clusters of wind turbines, with one cluster located at Drum Hills and adjacent townlands, the second cluster located at Carronadavderg and adjacent townlands, and the third cluster located at Cloghraun and adjacent townlands.
In a statement on their website, Slievegrine Limited said: “Currently it is hoped that a planning application for the proposed development will be ready by the middle of next year.”
Slievegrine Ltd is an associated company of Enerco Energy Ltd, an Irish-owned, Cork-based company with experience in the design, construction and operation of wind energy developments throughout Ireland, with projects currently operating or in construction in Counties Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Clare, Galway, Mayo and Donegal.
