Two Met Éireann alerts issued for Waterford
Waterford is set to face challenging conditions over the coming days as Met Éireann has issued two separate Waterford weather warnings for both heavy rain and strong winds.

Yellow Weather Warning for Rain – Thursday 2nd October
A Yellow Rain Warning is in place for Waterford and much of Munster, Connacht, Donegal, Cavan, and Longford. The alert is valid from 6AM until 8PM on Thursday, October 2nd. Met Éireann has warned of widespread rainfall, heavy at times, which may lead to localised flooding, blocked drains and difficult travelling conditions.

Yellow Weather Warning for Wind – Friday 3rd October
Met Éireann has also issued a Yellow Wind Warning linked to Storm Amy, affecting Waterford and the wider country. The alert is valid from 12PM on Friday, October 3rd, until midnight on Saturday, October 4th. Strong to near gale force southwesterly winds are expected, which may lead to debris being displaced, fallen trees and dangerous driving conditions.

Public urged to stay alert
Waterford City and County Council is reminding the public to monitor official weather updates and prepare for potential disruption. Both alerts highlight the importance of securing loose outdoor items and exercising caution while travelling.
