A status yellow weather warning has been issued for Waterford from 12pm Monday (July 26th) until 5am Tuesday (July 27th).
Despite recent soaring temperatures, a cold front crossing the country on Monday afternoon will bring widespread heavy and possibly thundery showers.
Downpours will result in hazardous driving conditions and may lead to spot flooding.
According to Met Eireann, the areas most at risk are Leinster and east Munster later Monday afternoon and evening. Heavy showers with the risk of thunderstorms will continue through Tuesday and Wednesday.
Temperatures are expected to remain around the 20 degrees celsius mark.
