
This year’s Waterford Business Awards take place on Friday, 8th March in the Tower Hotel Waterford, where over 30 businesses from across Waterford City and County will be recognised for their excellence in a variety of categories, from Customer Service and Best New Business, to Entrepreneur of the Year and Excellence in Corporate and Social Responsibility. Each day on Déise Today on WLR, a different category is featured, with interviews with the shortlisted businesses airing across the show.
Today’s category is Retail Excellence sponsored by TOTEM. The winner, chosen by an independent panel of judges, will be announced at the Waterford Business Awards gala ceremony in The Tower Hotel Waterford on Friday, 8th March.

NOLKE OPTICIANS
Nolke Opticians is an independent retailer established in the Uluru Centre, Ardkeen in 2004. Optometrist Kjell Nolke has developed and grown the business significantly, constantly seeking innovations and providing customers with an excellent product range and service.
Nolke stocks over 2,000 frames from more than 20 designer brands. They fit an extensive range of contact lenses, specialise in low vision, diabetic screening and have carried out 3D retinal OCT scans since 2014.
Children’s eyecare from new born to teenagers as well as sports eyewear has also proven to be a significant specialisation and practice builder. With seven optical assistants, two full-time optometrists and a dispensing optician, Nolke believes friendly and efficient service is key to our customer experience.

ARDKEEN QUALITY FOOD STORES
Ardkeen Quality Food Store is an innovative, independent food retailer owned and run by Colin, Kevin and Gerald Jephson. The store has added a unique element to Waterford’s retail landscape for over half a century and in recent years through their ecommerce website ardkeen.com earned a national reputation for championing Ireland’s small batch producers.
Ardkeen has grown and evolved over the years but remains committed to key relationships with customers, suppliers, staff and the community as a whole.
