County Waterford’s scenic Coast Road is set for improvement works over the coming weeks.

Waterford City and County Council previously outlined its intention to realign part of the R675 which links Tramore and Dungarvan.

Following a storm event in April of last year, a combination of heavy rainfall and wave overtopping caused some erosion to the cliff face in the Boatstrand area.

Waterford Council said it intended to realign the road away from the cliff face in the medium to long term.

In an update to WLR this week, the local authority said works will commence within the next four to six weeks and are expected to be completed by September.

Waterford Council will notify in advance of traffic management systems.

Works are being funded by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport under the Specific Grant category for smaller-scale road improvements.
