Waterford’s vibrant food scene was in the spotlight this week as the winners of the 2026 Restaurant Association Awards for the county were officially announced.

The annual awards recognise excellence across cafés, restaurants, pubs, and hospitality venues, highlighting the individuals and businesses shaping Waterford’s culinary identity.

Everett’s Restaurant in Waterford city claimed the coveted Overall Restaurant of the Year title.

Set within a 15th‑century building, Everett’s—led by chef Peter Everett—has earned national acclaim for its refined modern Irish cooking, seasonal local ingredients, and warm, intimate atmosphere.

The restaurant has consistently impressed critics and diners alike, including earning a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

In the Café category, Cass & Co. was honoured for its standout coffee, artisan bakes, fresh salads, and commitment to high‑quality Irish produce.

Known for its inviting atmosphere and gourmet deli offering, it continues to be a favourite among locals.

Farmgate , in Lismore Co. Waterford took home the award for Best Casual Dining, recognised for its hearty, approachable dishes and strong farm‑to‑table ethos.

Meanwhile, Luis Martin, head chef and owner of Mara in Waterford City, was named Chef of the Year for his innovative blend of Spanish culinary influences with premium Irish ingredients.

Tramore was represented through The Pier Restaurant, which won Best Contemporary Irish Cuisine for its elegant, seasonal dishes and exceptional seafood.

In the Customer Service category, Molly’s in Tramore was also celebrated for its warm, attentive hospitality.

The Employee Excellence Award went to Jennifer Walsh of La Alegria Café, recognising her professionalism and positive impact within the business.

Merry's Gastro Pub was named Best Gastro Pub, praised for its elevated pub fare, craft drinks, and lively yet welcoming atmosphere.

In the accommodation sector, Hanora’s Cottage in Cappoquin earned the Hotel and Guesthouse Restaurant award for its cosy dining experience and dedication to local produce.

Slow and Steady in Tramore received the Innovator of the Year award for its creative approach to food and operations.

The Local Food Hero accolade was awarded to Eunice Power of the Waterford Festival of Food, recognising her long‑standing commitment to promoting local producers and strengthening Waterford’s food culture.

Tramore’s rising star Sunset Orange was named Newcomer of the Year, while the historic J. & K. Walsh Victorian Spirit Grocer in Waterford city took home Pub of the Year for its authentic charm and excellent service.

Kamila Bystrzonowska of Momo was honoured as Restaurant Manager of the Year, praised for her leadership and operational excellence. In Dungarvan, Dún Artisan Bakery received the Sustainable Practices award for its eco‑friendly ethos and responsible sourcing.

In the Use of Social Media category, Waterford's The Olive Café recognised for its engaging and creative online presence.

Rounding out the list, Union Wine Bar & Kitchen in Waterford city won Best Wine Experience, while Mezze was celebrated for World Cuisine, thanks to its vibrant Mediterranean and Middle Eastern‑inspired dishes.

The 2026 awards once again highlight the depth, diversity, and talent within Waterford’s food and hospitality sector, showcasing a county that continues to grow as a destination for exceptional dining and culinary innovation.
