The Waterford Viking Marathon is set to take place next weekend, and will host more participants than ever before.

Despite an increased capacity of 1,000 people, the event has sold out, and expects to see a ground-breaking 4,500 people taking part.

Celebrating its 13th year running, the races will take place on June 21st and 22nd, with an addition of the Children’s Run and the Disability-Friendly Run.

Speaking to WLR, Fiona Craughan, Event Communications Lead for the Waterford Viking Marathon, thanked all the sponsors of the event.

“The support has been incredible and we could not do it without them… it’s a great opportunity for any company to get really good exposure and to get involved.”

She went on to call out for any volunteers that may be willing to help out across the weekend.

Volunteers are needed at the Race HQ located at 15 O’Connell St to help hand out t-shirts, goodie bags and race bibs on Friday the 20th to Sunday the 22nd.
