Iarnród Éireann is reminding customers in Waterford about major flood prevention works starting this morning.

The works will affect some off peak morning rail services between Monday and Thursday for 6 months, as part of the Waterford North Quays Project.

Iarnród Eireann spokesperson Barry Kenny, explains what’s happening.

 “Part of the Waterford North quays development, as well as a new station and a new public transport bridge, major flood defence works are now going to take place. They start today, they’ll be running from Mondays to Thursdays from now till the end of November and the first three months in 2026, between 8 and 2.30 each day, Monday to Thursday.”

Iarnród Éireann says work will stop during December and January, before resuming.
