Waterford to receive over €500,000 in funding for built heritage projects

Minister of State with responsibility for Heritage Malcolm Noonan TD, has announced that a total of 676 heritage projects across Ireland will benefit from €9 million in financial support through the Historic Structures Fund (HSF) and the Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS) for 2024.

A total of €506,693 is going to 30 projects in Waterford.

The schemes fund a variety of repairs and renovation works to prevent deterioration, protect character, and encourage the re-use of protected structures. The schemes also provide support for the employment of traditional craftspeople and conservation professionals.

A total of €264,000 is being allocated to projects in Waterford, including:

  • €114,000 for St. Augustine's Priory Monastic Ruins
  • €50,000 for Whitfield Court, Kilmeaden
  • €50,000 for Mount Melleray Abbey, Cappoquin

Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS)

A total of €242,693 is going to 26 projects in Waterford, including:

  • €14,000 for the Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception, Chapel St, Tallow
  • €12,000 for Pouldrew House, Pouldrew
  • €10,000 for St Catherine's Hall, Catherine St
  • €8,000 for Waterford Distillery, 9 Mary St
