A teacher in Waterford has been left devastated by a fire at her South Kilkenny home.
The fire at the home of Mary Roche and her mother Maisie at The Rower broke out at around 1pm on Sunday last, December 15th.
They have been left homeless as a result.
As their house insurance had recently lapsed, they also now face an uncertain financial future.
Mary is a teacher at Waterford College of Further Education (WCFE).
Members of the local and wider community have rallied round in support and a dedicated fundraising page has been established.
More than €20,000 has already been raised. Fundraisers say the money will help improve the "desperate situation" and give Mary and Maisie "hope in the run up to Christmas".
