A Waterford TD says she wants to put as much information as possible into the public domain regarding the failed prosecution of former Anglo Irish bank Chairman Sean Fitzpatrick.

The Sunday Times reports that Oireachtas Business Committee Chairperson Mary Butler, along with other members, intend to release an unpublished report into the state handling of Fitzpatrick’s case.

He was acquitted in May 2017, of allegedly ‘warehousing’ director’s loans with another bank.

Trial Judge John Aylmer criticised the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement’s investigation into the case and requested a report from Head Officer Ian Drennan.

Mary Butler has said that she wants to publish that report which was given to then Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald in 2017 but never published.
