Today is Daffodil Day in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.

Thousands of volunteers will be on streets and at shopping centres across the country asking for donations for the Irish Cancer Society.

People can also donate this Daffodil Day via cancer.ie or through Revolut.

The Irish Cancer Society has delivered almost 30,000 free lifts to appointments for cancer patients, and 26,000 comforting conversations through its freephone support line and in-hospital Daffodil centres, however only 5 per cent of the €30 million euro it needs each year comes from government funding.

In Waterford, events were launched at The Holy Cross Bar last month and a team of dedicated volunteers will be out and about across the city and county.

Meanwhile, Waterford Rotary is hosting a 'Daffodil Weekend' with the support of Adam from Killowen Orchard across Saturday and Sunday.

Members of the public are invited to pick daffodils from a field near Mount Bolton Equestrian Centre, Portlaw from 10am to 5pm and make a donation.
