Fuel stations in Waterford have been dwindling in supply since the beginning of nationwide blockades and protests of critical infrastructure.

Recent reports into Waterford fuel stations found that around 20 stations across city and county were either out of diesel or fully out of fuel.

Numerous stations have reported a dwindling supply of petrol or diesel in recent days, leading to motorists stocking up with more fuel than usual, which in turn has drained supplies even faster than normal.

Nationwide it’s estimated that around 500 of the country’s 1 thousand 600 filling stations are either out of petrol and diesel.

This comes as protests enter their fifth day with no immediate relief in sight and blockades remaining in place at three fuel-storage facilities.

Ministers and representatives from the haulage and farming industries are due to meet today at 1 o’clock to negotiate a new package of fuel supports.

The protests have fuelled fears of long term supply chain issues if critical ports and transport hubs continue to be blockaded.
