The case being taken by members of a County Waterford community over a decision to grant planning permission for a major solar farm in their area was deferred at a recent hearing.

An appeal was made against the decision by An Bord Pleanala to uphold Waterford City and Council's decision to grant conditional planning permission for BNRG's 141 hectare solar farm  in the townlands of Bishopstown, Bridgetown, Ballyhest and Ballyneal.

There have been numerous public meetings in Clonea Power since plans for the solar farm were revealed, with the opposition being co-ordinated by members of the Clonea/Mothel Solar Farm Action Group who announced they would be seeking a judicial review. This is a mechanism by which an application can be made to the High Court to challenge the decision making processes of administrative bodies and lower courts.

At the High Court on February 10th, the case was deferred until March 3rd when the group will be represented by their Senior Barrister and confirmation of the main hearing is expected.
