Waterford has recorded the biggest drop in new car registrations in 2024, according to figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).
Total new car registrations for 2024, finished at 121,195, a slight decrease of 1 per cent compared to 2023 (122,400).
However, in Waterford, new car registrations dropped by almost 8 per cent.
There were 2,533 new car units sold in Waterford in 2024 compared to 2,753 in 2023.
This represents the biggest drop in the country.
Nationally, 17,459 new electric cars were registered in 2024 which is a decrease of 23.6 per cent from the 22,852 registrations seen in 2023.
Overall, the top selling new car brands in Ireland in 2024 were:

3. SKODA
4.HYUNDAI
5.KIA
