Four men, including one with an address in Waterford, have appeared in court in connection with a seizure of 100 kilograms of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of €7 million.
Dean Chambers, 47, with an address in Whitepark, Arklow, Co Wicklow; 52-year-old Karl Dowling, from Birch Park, Ferrybank in Waterford; PJ Kinsella, 52, with an address in Ballyoughter, Gorey, Co Wexford; and 31-year-old Wojciech Kuzio, of Main Street, Arklow, Co Wicklow, appeared before a sitting of Gorey District Court yesterday.
The court heard the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau arrested the four men after the discovery at a farmyard in Knockadock, Kilmuckridge, Co Wexford, on Monday.
The four were charged under Section 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act and Section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Judge John Cheatle remanded Dean Chambers, Karl Dowling and PJ Kinsella in custody with consent to bail. Wojciech Kuzio made no application for bail and was remanded to custody.
If convicted, the men face a mandatory sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment for the sale and supply of drugs worth over €13,000.
All four will appear before Wexford District Court on Monday next.
