Waterford man James Croke is being held in a detention centre in Amsterdam after a stop over on a business trip to Sweden.
James Croke was travelling from Dublin to Stockholm to secure 80 jobs for Waterford, with a stop over in Amsterdam.
However when the Ferrybank native landed in Amsterdam last Tuesday he was arrested on charges relating to an event that allegedly took place in 2002.
He says he has not been given access to a solicitor or the Irish embassy.
He told Damien Tiernan on Deise Today that the conditions he is currently staying in are not ideal and there seems to be very little Covid-19 measures in place.
"For a week now I have tried my best with the Dutch authorities who refuse any assistance what so ever. They have also told the Irish embassy that it is none of their business. The only information I have been given is that they allege that I kicked somebody in 2002."
