A Waterford man and a Polish pilot, who were charged over the seizure of €8.4 million of cocaine, have been further remanded in custody.

54-year-old Tim Gilchrist of Mavis Bank, Newrath in Waterford is accused of possessing cocaine for sale or supply at Lough Owel, Irishtown, Co Westmeath.

41-year-old Michal Luczak, with an address at Primrose Avenue, Jigginstown, Naas, Co. Kildare is charged with the same offence.

Having originally appeared before Mullingar District Court on Sunday, they were remanded on continuing custody this afternoon to appear in court later this month for the DPP's directions.

The men were arrested after gardai seized 120 kilograms of cocaine in County Westmeath on Thursday.
