Waterford City and County Council, in partnership with Waterford Purple Flag, has launched a new Night-Time Economy (NTE) Pilot Grant for 2025. The scheme aims to support creative and community events during off-peak evening hours in Waterford City’s Purple Flag Zone.
The grant is designed to bring life to the city after dark, specifically between Sunday and Thursday after 5pm, with events like performances, workshops, tours, and wellness evenings.
Grants of €500 to €1,000 are available to artists, venues, businesses, and community groups. Larger collaborative projects may also be considered, depending on available funding.
Michael Quinn of Waterford City and County Council said the scheme will help make the city centre a “safe, accessible and vibrant place after dark.” Jim Gordon of the Purple Flag Committee welcomed the move, calling it a boost to Waterford’s growing evening economy.
Applications are now open and must be submitted by 4.30 pm on Friday, August 22nd. All funded events must take place between September 4th and November 13th in the Purple Flag Zone.
