The ongoing poor weather has prompted an increase in enquiries for sun holidays locally.
That's according to Ian Manto of Harvey Travel who was speaking to WLR as bookings were being made for last minute getaways to the sun.
Ian says the traditional bucket and spade holiday is always popular.
"The likes of Salou, Lanzarote, Portugal are always firm favourites for families for what we in the trade call the 'bucket and spade' holidays," he said.
Ian says that anyone hoping to get away from the poor Irish summer has lots of choice, but price may be a factor.
He outlined why some of the last minute bargains of the past aren't as common now.
"There's lots of availability out there but there aren't as many bargains like there used to be years ago when there were so many charter flights to Spain and Portugal," he said.
"It tends to be all scheduled flights now so it's down to general availability and building a package from there. A lot of people want ten nights as opposed to the traditional seven or fourteen."
As Waterford endures another miserable summer, Ian has this advice: "Book early for 2025 and guarantee yourself some sun!"
