Today is the last full day for party members to vote on the programme for government.

Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil and Green Party delegates are taking part in a postal vote to decide whether to back the three-party coalition.

All votes need to be received by Friday, when ballot papers will be counted.

Waterford Green Party TD Marc Ó Cathasaigh supports the deal, and hopes his party will back it.

"The vast majority of elected representatives have come out in favour of this programme for government.

"There will always be discenting voices in any political party and I think that's a healthy part of the process.

"Hopefully the same numbers will be reflected in our membership as has been in the parliamentary party in which case the programme for government will pass as is."

Deputy Ó Cathasaigh added that it will be close saying "it's certain that there will be a large majority in favour but whether we will make the two-thirds majority required by our constitution I think it's going to be very tight.

"I'm hopeful that our members will come out and support what is being termed a very radical and very progressive programme for government.

"It's transformative really in terms of its climate ambitions, it's capable, if passed, of delivering a better country for people within the next decade."
