The Waterford Gallery of Art officially opened on Friday 2nd December with a ribbon cutting event.
It was hosted by Maureen Kennelly, Director of Arts Council, and Mayor John O’Leary.
Celebrations on the move to 31 O'Connell Street in 2019 had been delayed due to Covid-19.
Gatherings and speeches took place throughout the day.
Winterval’s cabins, crafts, food and music on O’Connell St. coincided with the event.
There was also music on the evening courtesy of Dylan Bible and Killian Browne.
“What you have created is a legacy and a welcoming place where countless people- no matter who they are, for all ages, abilities- for years to come, will arrive with curiosity and leave filled with inspiration and pride,” Maureen Kennelly said.
The Gallery provides a showcase for some of Irelands best known artists as well as local and emerging talent.
It is currently showing over 50 pieces from the municipal collection in its “Portraits: People and Places” exhibition.
The Gallery is open to the public Wednesday -Saturday, 10am-5pm and is free of charge.
