Two companies from County Waterford have secured national recognition for sustainability and innovation, after being shortlisted for the 2026 Business & Finance ESG Awards.

Copper Coast Renewables and Dawn Meats Group both feature among leading organisations across Ireland competing in multiple categories.

Waterford companies recognised

Copper Coast Renewables has earned nominations in two categories:

  • Energy Efficiency Initiative Award
  • ESG Innovation Award

Meanwhile, Dawn Meats Group, based in Granagh, has been shortlisted for:

  • ESG Company Award (Enterprise)

These nominations place Waterford firms among the top performers nationally in environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices.

National awards

The Business & Finance ESG Awards 2026, held in partnership with Grant Thornton, recognise organisations that drive measurable progress in sustainability, innovation and responsible business.

The awards ceremony will take place on April 16 at the Mansion House, bringing together business leaders, policymakers and sustainability experts.

Organisers said this year’s shortlist reflects a growing focus on ESG across all sectors, with companies embedding sustainability into core business strategies.

Ireland’s sustainability challenge

The awards come at a time when Ireland faces ongoing environmental challenges.

Recent projections from the Environmental Protection Agency indicate the country is on track to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 29% by 2030, falling short of the 51% national target.

This gap highlights the increasing importance of business-led sustainability initiatives, such as those recognised in the ESG Awards.

Waterford’s growing role

The inclusion of Waterford-based companies on the shortlist underlines the region’s growing reputation in renewable energy, food production and sustainable business practices.

With firms like Copper Coast Renewables driving innovation in clean energy, and Dawn Meats advancing ESG standards in the agri-food sector, Waterford continues to play a key role in Ireland’s transition to a more sustainable economy.
