Waterford FC has confirmed that manager Alan Reynolds is recovering in hospital following what they've described as an unprovoked assault last night.
The club say they will be making no further comment on the matter.
Gardai in Tramore are investigating the incident and are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
It happened outside a premises on Main Street at around 1:00am this morning.
Mr Reynolds, who is in his 40's received facial injuries and a suspected broken leg in the incident and was brought to University Hospital Waterford for treatment.
No arrests have been made.
