Waterford FC has teamed up with Waterford Food Bank to collect much-needed food supplies for the people of Waterford.

In conjunction with the club Waterford Food Bank will hold a food collection at every home game at the RSC starting with this evening's game against Longford Town

The Food Bank will be collecting non-perishable foods, like cereals, tinned goods, biscuits, pasta, tea, and coffee.

Speaking to WLR, Waterford FC Manager, Danny Searl says the cause is important. He added:" Wherever I have worked embracing the communities is important not just to the club but also building success in these areas because you can't do anything on your own. And if we can even by a small percentage of that, we will play our part."

Starting tonight, the Food Bank will hold a food collection at every home game of the 2023 season. All the food collected will be distributed within Waterford.

Jonathan Walters, former Irish international and Director of Football of Waterford FC is involved in a similar project in The Wirral in Liverpool.

Speaking to WLR he said:" It will be great to see a link between the two groups. It is such an important project, especially in these hard times. It is hard to scale how much this helps people.

"Families are falling on hard times and a little help from ourselves will help struggling families to get through the month."
