Waterford Credit Union celebrates 60th anniversary

A Mayoral Reception is being held today (Friday) for Waterford Credit Union's 60th anniversary.

Mayor John O'Leary is hosting the event at City Hall from 4pm.

Marketing Officer with Waterford Credit Union Jenny O'Mahony told WLR News that many different events are taking place as part of the anniversary celebrations.

"We're going to have a celebration evening at the end of March with businesses and community groups we work with and we will also be holding celebrations in each branch," she explains.

Various competitions, including for local schools, will run throughout year.

Jenny explains that Waterford Credit Union will also be participating in next week's St Patrick's Day Parade in the city.

"We decided to contact Spraoi and they've come up with a great concept for us," she says.

Jenny points out that serving the community is at the heart of everything they do.

"We try and give back to the community as often as we can," she said.

"We work with businesses that are linked to the community and have the same ethos as us."
