It's disappointing to not be aware of what is happening with Waterford Airport. That's the message from Jim Griffin, Waterford Airport Board Member and local councillor who was commenting on the Business Case for the Airport.

Government officials received the case in December, however, Minister Eamon Ryan admitted in recent weeks he had not read the case. Speaking earlier on Deise Today, Cllr. Griffin says the Waterford City and County Council also treated the case with sensitivity.

"Disappointment sums it up. It was exactly that, and I wasn't irate. As I mentioned, some council officials and the CEO said at the previous meeting that there is sensitivity around this, and we need to drive on and get heads of terms signed. We can't always be coming back to the board meeting when there are smaller questions to be asked."

Government officials received the case in December, however, Minister Eamon Ryan admitted in recent weeks he had not read the case. A thirty-million euro investment has also been made available from the Comer Brothers to spearhead the project.

Cllr. Griffin continued, "I have listened to Minister Mary Butler, John Cummins, and Matt Shanahan. We are disappointed as the listeners to the programme, and they're passing the book saying it shouldn't have happened. It just goes to show you the disconnect in Government Circles. You have Roderick O'Gorman who is fighting his own battle with immigration and not getting any answers from the other two parties.

"Now you have Minister Ryan not after looking at the business plan, and Minister Mary Butler and Marc Ó Cathasaigh who say they are concerned, but they think it will go ahead. It's just the disconnect that we have had for the past number of years. There's no joined-up thinking."
