Waterford Council paid out €1.78m in insurance claims so far this year

Waterford City and County Council paid out €1.78 million in insurance claims in the first nine months of this year.

According to new Freedom of Information figures, Irish Public Bodies paid out more than €43 million on behalf of 28 councils in the first three quarters of 2019.

Local authorities in Dublin, Limerick, Cork, Galway and Tipperary top the list this year, with Waterford in 10th place.

There were 127 claims settled on behalf of Waterford Council, that's down from 162 claims last year when €2.89 million was paid out.
