Waterford City South continues to have one of the highest Covid incidence rates in the Republic

The latest Covid-19 Local Electoral data shows that for the fourth week in a row Waterford City South has the highest incidence rate in the county - at more than double the national average.

There were 64 cases there during the two weeks ending on Monday (the 23rd of November) that's a drop of two cases and gives an incidence of 284.7 per 100,000 population.

The national rate at the time was 107.8

There was an increase of four cases in Tramore City West to 42. The incidence rate there is 187.7.

Portlaw has the third-highest incidence rate at 151.9 after 26 cases were confirmed during the last fortnight. (Down 1 from 27 cases last week)

It's followed closely by Lismore where the incidence is 149.2 - they had 16 cases during that time, an increase of two.

The number of cases in Waterford City East has fallen from 25 to 17, that gives an incidence rate of 74.

There were 11 cases in Dungarvan in the two weeks ending on Monday, that's down from 14 the week before and means the incidence rate is just 53.7.

The areas in the Republic with the highest infection rates were in Co Donegal – Milford and Letterkenny had rates of 356 and 306 respectively.

However, these were lower than in the North. In neighbouring Castlederg, Co Tyrone, the incidence rate in the BT81 postcode stood at 547 cases per 100,000. In Derry city, the rate in the BT48 postcode was at 412.

Dundalk South and Waterford City South had the next highest rates in the Republic, at 299 and 285 respectively.

The areas with the lowest rate of Covid-19 spread included parts of Co Mayo (Westport, Belmullet and Swinford); Ballinasloe, Co Galway; Muinebeag, Co Carlow; Cahir, Co Tipperary; Carrickmacross-Castleblaney, Co Monaghan; and Bantry-West Cork. All recorded less than 5 cases over the two-week period.
