A section of the R680 Inner Ring Road in Waterford City is closed this morning due to flooding.

The section between SuperValu, Kilbarry and the RSC was also closed for a period earlier this week due to flooding.

Diversions are in place and motorists are asked to use alternative routes.

Waterford City and County Council is advising motorists to be aware of surface water on many roads in East Waterford.

Waterford was under a Status Yellow weather warning for rain from midday yesterday (Friday) until midnight.
