Waterford City and County Council has today adopted its Budget for 2026.

It provides for expenditure of approximately €207 million.

During a meeting at City Hall today, 30 councillors voted in favour of the Budget with two voting against.

It includes a 3.5% increase in the Annual Rate on Valutation (commercial rates for businesses).

Speaking today, Cllr. Seamus Ryan, Mayor of Waterford City and County said, “This Budget is about building on Waterford’s success and ensuring that we continue to deliver the high-quality services our citizens and businesses expect. It reflects our ambition to strengthen Waterford as the best place to live, work, invest and visit. This is a fair, balanced and responsible Budget. It protects the Council’s financial stability and enhances the delivery of key services for our communities.”
