
A 42-year-old man has been sent forward for trial in Waterford Circuit Criminal Court on a charge of dangerous driving causing death.
Adrian Doyle, Ard Glas, Abbey Road, Ferrybank appeared before Judge Kevin Staunton this morning in Waterford District Court.
The court heard that the Book of Evidence is now ready and the DPP has consented for the matter to be sent forward for trial.
Mr. Doyle will appear in the Circuit Criminal Court in Waterford on the term beginning June 18th, 2025.
At approximately 11:30am this morning, Judge Staunton issued an alibi warning to the accused, advising him of his obligation to notify the state within 14 days if an alibi is being relied upon.
Continuing bail was granted by the judge on the accused’s own bond of €500.
Solicitor Ken Cunningham appeared in court on behalf of Adrian Doyle.
Mr. Cunningham referenced the ‘serious charges’ applicable in this case.
Background of the case
On June 27th, 2024, Gardaí responded to a call on the Cork Road, Waterford at 02:10am.
A collision had occurred between a bus and an e-scooter.
15-year-old Gilbert Collins was pronounced dead at the scene, while his 17-year-old friend Avu Idris was pronounced dead later that day at University Hospital Waterford.
Adrian Doyle (42), who had been driving the bus, appeared before Judge Kevin Staunton on April 8th of this year in Waterford District Court.
Mr Doyle was charged with dangerous driving causing death.
