For the first time in a month a new case of Covid-19 has been confirmed in Waterford.

It comes as 92 cases were confirmed in the Republic of Ireland last night, there were no deaths associated with the virus.

Dr Ronan Glynn, Acting Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health, announced last night that Waterford was one of 16 counties with new cases.

The last time there was any increase in cases here was the 13th of July. The exact number of new cases in Waterford is not yet known.

Dublin and Kildare both had 24 new cases; there were 8 in Limerick; 6 in Carlow and Kilkenny; 5 in Meath and Clare. The remaining 14 cases are in Waterford, Cork, Donegal, Kerry, Laois, Louth, Monaghan, Offaly and Wicklow.

Out of the 92 new cases, 48 are women and 43 are men.

The National Public Health Emergency Team also says 43 of the cases reported are associated with a known outbreak of the virus or are a close contact of a confirmed case.

12 are associated with community transmission.
