Waterford councillors will today vote on a major proposal that could see commercial flights return to Waterford Airport.

Chief Executive Sean McKeown will present a report outlining a €30 million investment from a new American investor.
The deal would see a new company, Waterford Airport Ltd, take over operations and fund the runway extension needed for scheduled passenger services.
If approved, work could begin within weeks and take about 12 months to complete.
Waterford City and County Council is being asked to sell its 84 hectares of airport land for €50,000, or lease it long term if required.
It would also share the €800,000 cost of road works and write off a previous €670,000 loan.
All staff, the Search and Rescue base, and the pilot academy would be retained.
The land would be restricted to aviation use for 50 years under the agreement.
Councillors’ approval today would effectively clear the way for commercial flights to return for the first time since 2016.
All eyes will be on City Hall this afternoon.
