Negotiations with all the stakeholders in Waterford Airport are at a delicate stage at the moment.

That's according to board member, Jim Griffin.

Councillor Griffin had told WLR in December that no contract had been signed with investors, the Comer brothers, but that heads of terms had been agreed.

It was also expected, at that stage, that ground would have been broken on the vital runway extension by the start of March.

However, that hasn't yet happened and Councillor Griffin says there is very little by way of an update.

Speaking to WLR, he says: "We are in the very final stages of bringing the pieces together with those who want to invest. I genuinely believe this will come to fruition and it will be another good news story."
