Minister of Transport Darragh O’Brien is set to meet with delegates from Waterford City & County Council and Waterford government TDs tomorrow to discuss the future of Waterford Airport.

Waterford City and County Council CEO Sean McKeown and Director of Services for Economic Development, Michael Quinn will be in attendance for a meeting in Dublin to discuss the next steps. Waterford Fianna Fail TD and Government Chief Whip, Mary Butler and Waterford Fine Gael TD and Junior Housing Minister, John Cummins will also be in attendance.

A decision is awaited on €12m worth of potential government funding that would potentially pave the way for a long-awaited runway extension.

No commercial flights have operated from Waterford Airport since 2016.
