IFA County Chairs from the South-East are calling on the Government to immediately fund the long-awaited expansion of Waterford Airport, including its proposed runway extension.

A statement from five county chairs, including Waterford Chair John Heffernan, expresses frustration at the Government’s failure to support the project they say is critical to the region’s agri-food sector and rural economy.

The Chairs argue the State’s reluctance to provide twelve million euro in funding reflects a broader failure to deliver on commitments to support regional development.

Despite private funding and oversight measures in place, the Chairs say bureaucratic delays are holding back growth, jobs, and economic resilience in the region.

They call on the Government to act, honour its commitments, and deliver for the South-East.
