Sean Upton won best male in an amateur drama for his role in the play Up Down Boy by David Hennessy Musical and Dramatic Society.
The play follows a young Down syndrome boy and his mother as he departs out into the world.
Speaking to WLR News at the awards in the Theatre Royal, Seán, who has Down Syndrome and played the role of Jack, said he hopes to take to the stage in London one day.
Brenda Giles played the role of Jack’s mother who is dealing with her Down Syndrome son going out into the big world as he turns 18.
The duo took to the stage to perform a scene from the play. The awards were brought to a standing ovation after the performance, with not a dry eye in the house.
