
Turnout in the local and European elections is picking up in Waterford this evening.
Ballot boxes will stay open until 10pm this evening with people in Waterford being asked to cast their vote on the referendum on divorce and the plebiscite on directly elected mayors.
In Dungarvan Sports Centre, the tea-time rush was evident with a jump from 24% to just under 30% by 6.00pm
In Ballymacarbry there was a similar surge to 25%.
In Kilmacthomas turnout reached 33% by 6.00pm.
In Waterford City it was also 33% in Farronshoneen while in Ballygunner the figure was 31%.
