A voluntary redundancy plan is to be implemented at Garrett Advancing Motion in Waterford.
It’s understood around 36 voluntary redundancies are being sought at the site, based in the IDA Industrial Estate.
In a statement to WLR News, a spokesperson for Garrett said: “At Garrett, we continuously evaluate the market and adapt our strategy to remain competitive and meet our commitments to customers. In this context, we confirm the announcement of a voluntary redundancy plan at our Waterford facility. We are dedicated to supporting those affected and will comply with all local regulations throughout this process.”
Waterford Sinn Féin TDs David Cullinane and Conor McGuinness this week expressed concern at speculation about the voluntary redundancies, saying Garrett has supported employment for decades and that any reduction in jobs poses a serious risk to Waterford.
Garrett is recognised as one of the leading manufacturers of turbochargers and other motion-related products.
