Planning permission for 17 new homes on the Upper Yellow Road in Waterford City has been upheld despite an appeal.

Conditional planning permission was granted by Waterford City and County Council on March 22nd 2022 for the construction of 17 new two-storey homes on the Upper Yellow Road.

The existing development, Rathfadden Lodge, would be demolished - according to the permissions sought by S and K Carey Limited.

An appeal was lodged against the development and a decision was then sought by An Bord Pleanala.

It was considered that subject to compliance with 22 conditions, the proposed development would have no ill bearing on the visual and residential amenities already existing within the locality.

These conditions include the agreement of estate and street names with the Placenames Committee at Waterford City and County Council, the submission of a construction management plan, and the provision of public lighting, among others.

An Bord Pleanala ruled that the proposed development is in line with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area - clearing the way for construction to proceed.
