Two teenage boys have been arrested after a high speed chase in a stolen car across Waterford and Cork.

Gardaí contained a vehicle travelling on the wrong side of the N25 at Midleton at around 8pm yesterday.

Gardaí on patrol had earlier observed the car in the Dungarvan area carrying a number of young people.

The car had been stolen the previous night.

The driver of the car didn’t stop when directed to do so by Gardaí, who then launched a containment operation on the N25 heading from Waterford to Cork.

Gardaí in Midleton were called for assistance and the vehicle was intercepted at the Lakeview Roundabout heading eastbound.

Gardaí say the offending car crashed into four parked vehicles during the operation and no injuries were reported.

Two teenage boys were arrested and are currently detained at a Garda station in Waterford.
