Two people have been killed and 192 injured in France, after clashes broke out following Paris Saint-Germain’s victory in the Champions League final.
More than 500 people have been arrested across the country, including 491 in Paris, where 5,400 police were deployed using a water cannon, tear-gas, and pepper spray.
The French interior ministry says there were 692 fires, and the injured include 22 security workers and seven firefighters.
According to the French Interior Ministry, two individuals lost their lives during the celebrations: a 17-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in Dax, and a 23-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle while riding a scooter in Paris.
The Champs-Élysées and areas near PSG’s Parc des Princes stadium were particularly affected, with reports of vandalism, clashes between fans and riot police, and numerous fires. Emergency services responded to over 200 vehicle fires, and 192 individuals were injured, including 22 security personnel and 7 firefighters.
The unrest marred what was otherwise a landmark achievement for PSG, as the club secured its first-ever Champions League title.
