University Hospital Waterford is one of the worst-hit hospitals today for patients on trolleys.
According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, 501 admitted patients are waiting for beds in the country's hospitals.
355 are in emergency departments and 146 in overflow wards.
University Hospital Limerick is the worst hit with 71 patients on trolleys, followed by South Tipperary General Hospital with 35.
34 patients are waiting for a bed in University Hospital Waterford.
