Tricolour celebrations taking place in Waterford City

Waterford will be celebrating Thomas Francis Meagher, at the 177th anniversary of the Tricolour Celebration this morning.
It’s 177 years since the Irish Tricolour was first flown at 33, The Mall in Waterford City and commemorative events take place this weekend.
The Tricolour was presented as a gift in 1848 to Thomas Francis Meagher from a small group of French women.
A series of events will take place today – which will be broadcast LIVE on WLR.
Military Parade, Wreath Laying & Flag Raising Ceremony, Waterford Crystal Plaza – 12PM
Following the Thomas Francis Meagher Fife & Drum Band at the Granville Hotel (11am):
